Abstract

Flower peacock leaves are medicinal plants that contain saponins, alkaloids, tannins, glucosides, and calcium oxalate which are thought to have high antioxidant activity so that they have the potential as hepatoprotectors. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of syrup of flower peacock leaf extract on SGPT and SGOT levels, as well as to determine the effective dose as a hepatoprotector of syrup preparations containing flower peacock leaf extract in CCl4-induced rats. This study used twenty-five rats divided into five groups: all groups were given CCl4 0.047 ml/200 g BW. Group I as negative control group II positive control was given curcuma 3.6 mg/200g BW, group III, IV, V as treatment group with each formulation containing 50 grams of flower peacock leaf extract, given syrup preparation of flower peacock leaf extract without sweetener, peacock flower extract syrup with sucrose sweetener, peacock flower extract syrup with Na Cyclamate sweetener. All groups were treated every day for 8 days. On day 9 all groups were given CCl4. All groups on the 0th and 10th days were assigned SGPT and SGOT levels. The data were statistically analyzed with One Way Anova. The results of this study showed that the syrup preparation of the flower of peacock leaf extract could significantly reduce the activity of SGPT and SGOT levels in male wistar strain rats induced by CCl4. The unsweetened flower flower leaf extract syrup was the most effective because it was comparable to the positive control. Keyword: Caesalpinia pulcherrima L., CCl4., hepatoprotector
