Abstract

Bandotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides L.) is an herbal plant that can help hair health because it contains antioxidants. Chemical compounds of tannins, flavonoids, steroids, and saponins. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of propylene glycol variations on the physical quality of the preparations and the growth of rabbit hair. In this study, 6 basting groups were made for 21 days. Group 1 as blank, group 2 as negative control, group 3 as positive control (nature), then hair tonic preparations were made into 3 formulas, group 4 as formula 1, group 5 as formula 2, and group 6 each formula containing bandotan leaf extract 20% with variations of propylene glycol by 10%, 15%, 20%. Hair length activity was measured with calipers while hair weight was weighed with an analytical balance. The data obtained was analyzed using one way ANOVA method and followed by Post Hoc Tukey. The results showed that formulas 1, 2 and 3 had the effect of hair growth, formula 3 had the best physical quality, and propylene glycol had no effect on hair growth but had an effect on the physical quality of the preparation.
