Abstract
Salam leaf (Syzygium polyanthum W.) is a plant that contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, and tannins. Salam leaf leaves have antioxidant activity contained in flavonoid compounds. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of variations in triethanolamine concentration on the physical quality and stability of salam leaf extract lotion preparations and to determine the effect of variations in triethanolamine concentration on the antioxidant activity of salam leaf extract lotion with IC50 values. Salam leaf (Syzygium polyanthum W.) were macerated using 70% ethanol. The concentration of salam leaf extract (Syzygium polyanthum W.) used was 10%. Lotion preparations were made in 3 formula with various concentrations of triethanolamine namely 2% ; 3% ; 4%. Determination of antioxidant activity by calculating the IC50 value using the DPPH method. In addition, physical quality test will also be carried out including organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, emulsion type, spreadability, adhesion, cycling test, and skin irritation test. To determine the effect of emulsifier concentration on lotion preparations using the SPSS program. The results showed that salam leaf extract lotion (Syzygium polyanthum W.) with variations of triethanolamine had an effect on the physical quality of lotion. The result of salam leaf extract (Syzygium polyanthum W.) which were made in lotion preparations with various triethanolamine concentrations obtained F5 results of 103,76 ppm, F6 result of 101,82 ppm and F7 result of 102,13 ppm witch are classified as moderate antioxidants. Keywords : Salam leaf, lotion, formulation, triethanolamine, antioxidant, DPPH.
