Abstract
Turmeric (Curcuma domestica val) contains curcumin which has wound healing activities, so as to accelerate epitheliization, cell polyferation, and collagen synthesis. Turmeric (Curcuma domestica val) is extracted and made ointment preparations on a hydrocarbon basis. The base used is the vaseline album. The main purpose of this study is to find out the effect of turmeric rhizome extract that has been used as a hydrocarbon-based ointment preparation, and to compare it with wound drugs that have been sold in the market with the composition of povidone iodine. This research is experimental. The sample used was a male rabbit weighing ± 3kg and aged ± 6-7 months who had been shaved with fur and was shaved using a 3cm long scalpel and ± 0.5cm deep. With the concentration of the preparation given is 2%, 4%, 8%. With monitoring for 7 days. This study shows that a good ointment concentration is used to speed up wound healing at a concentration of 8%. Concentrations of 2% and 4% were able to heal wounds in rabbits that had been slashed but within a period of more than 7 days. Turmeric rhizome ointment (Curcuma domestica val) is able to heal wounds in rabbits. But it is still less effective when compared to ointments that have been sold in the market with the composition of povidone iodine. Keywords : ointment, sores, Curcuma domestica val, hydrocarbons
