Abstract

Infectious disease is a disease that can be caused by several microorganisms, one of which is the fungus Candida albicans. Soursop leaves contain flavonoids, saponins, tannins and alkaloids which have the potential to be used as ingredients to prevent fungal infections. This study aims to determine the effect of the antifungal activity of the extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and water fraction of soursop (Annona muricata L.) leaves on Candida albicans, the most active fraction, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Killing Concentration (MBC). This study used the maceration extraction method using 96% ethanol solvent, fractionated using n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water as solvents. Antifungal activity test using diffusion method concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, 10% and the dilution method using series concentrations of 10%, 5%, 2.5%, 1.25%, 0.625%, 0.313%, 0.156%, 0.078% and 0.039%. Ketoconazole as positive control and 5% DMSO as negative control. The results of the diffusion test were statistically analyzed using the Two Way Anova test. The results of this study showed that the extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and water fraction of soursop (Annona muricata L.) leaf extract had antifungal activity against Candida albicans. From the ethanol extract, the n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and water fraction which had the most active antifungal activity was the ethyl acetate fraction which was able to inhibit and kill Candida albicans with MIC at a concentration of 0.625% and MBC at a concentration of 2.5%.
