Abstract

Electrolyte is a compound in solution that dissociate into (ions) positive and negative particle. Positive ions is cations and negative ions is anions. The balance of both is called electronetrality. Each of electrolyte types is collaborating to deliver the impulse as desired or needed by the body. There are several methods can be performed to determine electrolyte levels in blood, such as Potensiometer using Ion Selective Electrodes (ISE), Potensiometer using Biosensor, Flame Emission Spectropotometry. Potensiometer using Ion Selective electrodes (ISE) becomes a gold standart in established the diagnosis, whereas Potensiometer using Biosensor is a chosen method which the sample required a fast result. This research was conducted to determine the differences of electrolyte examination result by Ion Selective Electrodes (ISE) and Biosensor. This research method wass analitic observation with cross sectional approach. This research used 30 sample from patient in dr. Moewardi Regional Public Hospital taken randomly, measured electrolyte level by Ion Selective Electrodes (ISE) and Biosensor using serum sample. Paired sample t test was used in data analysis. The result indicated the data distributed normaly and the comparison showed 2-tailed sodium value (sig) amount 0,65 (>0,05), potassium value (sig) amount 0,309 (>0,05), chloride value (sig) amount 0,000 (<0,05). The data result indicated between sodium and potassium by Ion Selective Electrodes (ISE) method and Biosensor method, both of these were no differences. Whereas in chloride there were differences between both of the methods. Keywords : Ion Selective Electrodes, Biosensor, Electrolyte
