Abstract

Peel off mask is a facial mask preparation in the form of a cooling gel for maximum relaxation and facial cleansing, dries quickly, can be removed without pain, and without rinsing with water. To keep the skin moisturised, humectants draw water from the environment deep into the skin, which hydrates the stratum corneum. Broccoli contains Vitamin C, carotenoids, phenolics, and vitamin E with high bioactive compounds. The content contributes to increasing the antioxidant properties of broccoli used as an active ingredient in peel off mask preparations. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of several types of humectants on the physical quality of broccoli peel off masks and to find out which peel off mask preparations had the best physical quality. This study used three formulas with different types of humectants used, namely glycerin, honey, and propylene glycol. Peel off masks are made with macerated broccoli using ethanol, broccoli extracts are made with various formulas with various humectants and are tested for physical quality. The results showed that broccoli flower extract peel off mask had good physical quality, there was no separation during storage. The three humectants had a significant effect on the organoleptic test and the drying time of the peel off mask, but the three humectants had no significant effect on the pH, viscosity and spreadability of the peel off mask. The best broccoli flower extract peel off mask preparation formula based on organoleptic tests and drying time is formula 3 with honey humectants.
