Abstract

RAHARJO, S., M., ANTIDIABETIC AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY TEST OF THE COMBINATION OF KEMUNING (Murraya paniculata (L.) Jack) AND MORINGA LEAF (Moringa oleifera L.) ETHANOL EXTRACT IN STZ-NA INDUCED DIABETIC RATS. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia. The development of diabetic complications plays a pathological role in increasing Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) which induces oxidative stress. The aim of this study was to look at the antidiabetic and antioxidant activities of orange jasmine and kelor leaves based on glucose levels and SOD and GPx levels, the protective activity of pancreatic cells of the combination of ethanol extracts of orange jasmine leaves and kelor leaves in STZ-NA-induced rats. The orange jasmine and kelor leaves were dried and finely powdered, then extracted by remaceration method using 96% ethanol. The test was carried out on 30 rats which were divided into 6 treatment groups, namely the normal control group, negative, positive control (Glibenclamide), extract dose of 76.5 mg. /200 g BW rat : 6.5 mg/200 g BW rat, 114.75 mg/200 g BW rat : 3.25 mg/200 g BW rat and 38.25 mg/200 g BW rat 9.75 mg/ 200 g BW rats. The antidiabetic test method was carried out using STZ-Na induction intraperitoneally then measuring glucose levels and measuring SOD and GPx levels in liver supernatants for antioxidant tests. Cell protection test by calculating cell damage score method. The data obtained was analyzed using the one-way ANOVA test. The results showed that orange jasmine and kelor leaves at a dose of 38.25 mg/200 g BW : 9.75 mg/200 g BW were able to lower blood glucose levels and increase the activity of the antioxidant enzymes SOD and GPx, and were able to protect pancreatic cell damage in rats STZ-NA induced by the pancreatic cell damage score
