Abstract
Salah satu masalah kulit utama baik bagi kaum wanita maupun pria adalah jerawat. Penyebab timbulnya jerawat salah satunya karena bakteri Staphylococcus aureus yang merupakan bakteri Gram positif. Kemangi memiliki senyawa kimia yang dapat berfungsi sebagai antibakteri seperti flavonoid, saponin, tanin dan steroid. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak daun kemangi (Ocium basilicum L) dalam sediaan spray gel pada bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan yaitu maserasi dengan menggunakan etanol 96%. Formulasi spray gel ekstrak daun kemangi (Ocium basilicum L) dibuat dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 9% dan variasi konsentrasi karbopol 0,05%, 0,1% dan 0,15%. Evaluasi sediaan spray gel meliputi uji organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya sebar, dan cycling test. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 menggunakan metode difusi cakram. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis data menggunakan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sediaan spray gel ekstrak etanol daun kemangi (Ocium basilicum L) memiliki aktivitas antibakteri dengan zona hambat pada formula 1 sebesar 18,76 mm, formula 2 sebesar 17,65 mm, dan formula 3 sebesar 16,73 mm. Hasil evaluasi sediaan spray gel memiliki mutu fisik yang baik. One of the main skin problems for both woman and men is acne. One of the causes of acne is Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, which are Gram positive bacteria. Basil has chemical compounds that can function as antibacterials such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins and steroids. The ain of this research was to determine the antibacterial activity of basil leaf extract (Ocium basilicum L) in a spray gel preparation on Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The extraction method used is maceration using 96% ethanol. The spray gel formulation of basil leaf extract (Ocium basilicum L) was made with an extract concentration of 9% and varying carbopol concentrations of 0.05%, 0.1% and 0.15%. Evaluation of spray gel preparations includes organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability and cycling tests. Testing of antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 used the disc diffusion method. The data obtained was analyzed using SPSS. The results showed that the ethanol extract of basil leaves (Ocium basilicum L) had antibacterial activity with an inhibition zone for formula 1 of 18.76 mm, formula 2 of 17.65 mm, and formula 3 of 16,73 mm. the evaluation results of the spray gel preparation have good physical quality.
