Abstract

Working in a clinical laboratory is always related to a risk of chemical and infectious material exposure. In order to minimize that risk, such regulation for using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been established for workers. Their obedience for using PPE would minimize the risk of accident or illness due to work. Knowledge, attitude, age, education, and year of service, are considered predisposing factors affecting obedience for using PPE. The objective of this research is to examine effect of predisposing factors towards obedience for performing SOP for PPE use among laboratory workers at Sukoharjo Regency. A cross sectional study is conducted with subjects consist of workers in laboratories located within area of Sukoharjo Regency on 2017. A sample of 136 workers is taken using total sampling. All variables are measured using a questionaire. Data are analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results of the research show the predisposing factors which significantly affecting obedience for performing SOP for PPE use, i.e. knowledge, attitude, education, and year of service. Age doesn’t significantly affect obedience for performing SOP for PPE use. Keywords: predisposing factor, obedience, SOP, PPE, laboratory worker
