Abstract
The scientific research mentions that cherry leaf ethanolic extract had efficacy as an anti-gastric ulcer and anti-pain. Kidney was main organ for excretion so the risk of organ damage becomes large. Generally aim of subchronic toxicity tests determined further characteristics of toxic specific influence of chemical compound in the organ or tissue. Cherry leaf ethanolic extract obtained maceration method using ethanol 96%. The study of brief toxicity subchronic test used 50 rats strain wistar (male and female), were divided into 5 groups: negative control group, group I at 125 mg/kg weight dose, group II 500 mg/kg weight dose, group III 800 mg/kg weight dose and satellite group at 800 mg/kg weight dose were treated for 28 days. Parameter of observed were change of weight, urines volume, and feces every day. The examination of BUN and creatinin concentrations were done at the day 0,1,7,14 and 28, then kidneys macroscopic and microscopic observation were at the last day. The results showed that gave cherry leaf ethanolic extract in the rat strain wistar there weren’t toxic effects. The examnination didn’t give to change of weight, urines volume and feces, blood biochemistry, and damaged organ. The satellite histopathological test occurred dignification so its reversible. Keywords : cherry leaf, subchronic toxicity, kidney
