Abstract

xv ABSTRACT Wibowo N, A. 2023. The Percentage of Intestinal Nematode Infections and The Application of The Use of Personal Protective Equipment and Personal Hygiene to Waste Cleaning Workers at TPA Winong Boyolali. Bachelor’s degree Program in Medical Laboratory Technology, Health Sciences Faculty, Setia Budi University. Worms can infect everyone. Indonesia has risk factors that are very supportive for the proliferation of parasitic worms, namely a tropical climate and an optimal temperature of 230C – 300C. Places that are dirty and not in accordance with health requirements are places for worms to develop, for example in landfills. Garbage cleaners have a high risk of contracting helminthiasis. This study aims to provide an overview of the use of personal protective equipment, personal hygiene, intestinal nematode infections, and cestodes among waste cleaners at the Winong Boyolali final disposal site. This research uses quantitative methods with descriptive data types and is carried out with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were 30 waste cleaning workers at the Winong Boyolali TPA and were taken by total sampling technique. This research was conducted from February 2023 to June 2023. This research was carried out by laboratory examination using direct method (direct) methods, namely macroscopically and microscopically and examining samples of nail clippings using indirect methods (sedimentation) which were examined microscopically. Based on the results of this study, it was found that there was no helminthic infection caused by intestinal nematodes and worm infection by Diphylobotrium latum was found on examination of stool samples. This study found that the use of personal protective equipment and personal hygiene among waste cleaners was included in the good category.
