Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus and transmitted by the mosquito vector of the species Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus. Platelets are the result of fragmentation of the megakaryocyte cytoplasm that forms in the bone marrow. Hematocrit is an examination to determine the ratio of erythrocytes to blood volume or the volume of erythrocytes in 100 ml of blood, which is determined in % units. Thrombocytopenia and hemoconcentration are abnormalities that are always found in DHF. A decrease in the platelet value that is accompanied or immediately followed by an increase in the hematocrit value is very unique for DHF. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in platelet counts and hematocrit levels in DHF patients treated in ICU and non-ICU at HNGV Dili, Timor-Leste. In DHF, there is hemoconcentration caused by plasma leakage as assessed by an increase in the hematocrit value of ≥20% from baseline. In this study using an observational analytic research design with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted from May to June 2023 at HNGV Dili, Timor-Leste. Total 68 samples were used, 33 samples were treated in ICU and 34 samples in non-ICU. Data is taken secondary in the medical record of patients who are positive for DHF. And the data obtained will be tested for normality using the Kolmogrov Smirnov and the results will be tested using the Mann Whitney test The results showed that the platelet count and hematocrit levels in DHF patients treated in the ICU and non-ICU were (p<0.001). In conclusion, there is a difference between the platelet count and hematocrit levels in DHF patients treated in the ICU and non-ICU at the Guido Valadares National Hospital, Dili, Timor-Leste.
