Abstract
Sayangbati, R. M. 2023. Differences in Total Leukocyte Counts and Leukocyte Types in Patients with Malaria falciparum and Malaria vivax at Manokwari Regency Hospital. Thesis. D4 Health Analyst Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Setia Budi Surakarta. Malaria is a disease caused by Plasmodium sp infection which is transmitted to humans through infected female Anopheles mosquito bite. Malaria is still a healthcare problem in Indonesia. Plasmodium species in Indonesia that live in humans are P. falciparum and P. vivax. Leukocytes are one of the most common changes in hematological parameters in malaria infection. This study aims to see differences in the total number of leukocytes and types of leukocytes in patients with falciparum malaria and vivax malaria at Manokwari Regency Hospital. This study used an observational analytic research design with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted from April to June 2023 at the Manokwari district hospital. A total of 80 secondary data from the examination of total leukocyte counts and leukocyte types, namely 40 patients with falciparum malaria and 40 patients with vivax malaria are medical record data for patients who conduct examinations at the Manokwari Regency Hospital. The data obtained will be tested for normality using Shapiro Wilk and the results are tested differently using Mann Whitney. The results of statistical analysis that has been done found that the value of total leukocytes (p=0.927), segment neutrophils (p=0.793), rod neutrophils (p=0.736), monocytes (p=0.118), lymphocytes (p=0.497), eosinophils (p=0.885) and basophils (p=0.085) have a value of p>0.05 so it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between the total number of leukocytes and types of leukocytes in patients with falciparum malaria and vivax malaria.
