Abstract

RAHMASARI EKA INDAH. 2022. FORMULATION AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY TEST OF MORINGA LEAF EXTRACT LOZENGES (Moringa oleifera Lamk.) WITH VARIATIONS IN PVP AND MANITOL CONCENTRATIONS, THESIS, S1 PHARMACY STUDY PROGRAM, FACULTY OF PHARMACY, SETIA BUDI UNIVERSITY SURAKARTA. Guided by apt. Endang Sri Rejeki, M.Si and apt. Drs. Widodo Priyanto, M.M. Moringa plant (Moringa oleifera Lamk.) Nutrient-rich plants, especially on the leaves that contain high antioxidants. Moringa leaves contain flavonoids, tannins, and vitamin C compounds that act as natural antioxidants to ward off free radicals. Lozenges are solid preparations that release medicinal materials by dissolving slowly for less than 30 minutes in the mouth. The purpose of the study was to make a lozenge formula from Moringa leaf extract which has good tablet physical quality and has antioxidant activity. The method used is maceration using 96% ethanol. Moringa leaf lozenges are tested by physical quality test of tablets and antioxidant activity test using DPPH method. Moringa leaf extract is made lozenges with variations in PVP and mannitol concentrations F1 (0%: 13,8%), F2 (3%: 13,2%), F3 (4%: 12,2%), and F4 (5%: 11,8%). The formula is tested for the physical properties of granules and lozenges, the data obtained are analyzed using the SPSS application. The results showed that formula 4 lozenges had the best physical quality at a PVP concentration of 5%. The results of the antioxidant activity test of vitamin C lozenges are 23,5962 ppm which is classified as a very strong antioxidant than the antioxidant activity of F4 lozenges 108,848 ppm classified as medium antioxidants. F4 lozenges were less preferred by respondents because they contained the least mannitol than other formulas.
