Abstract

Sembukan is one of the plants in Indonesia which useful as larvicide. The purpose of this study was to determine the larvicide activity extracts and fractions of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, water of sembukan leaf to Aedes aegypti instar III. The powder of sembukan leaf macerated into extract then fractionated using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, water. Each extracts and fractions made into 3 concentration series (400 ppm, 800 ppm, 1200 ppm). Tested in test glass contains 25 larvae of Aedes aegypti instar III for 24 hours, counted the number of larvae die. The experiment was conducted three times for each concentration. Abate 1G used as positive control and Tween 80 solution as negative control. LC50 of each concentration determined using probit analysis. The results showed ethyl acetate fraction of sembukan (Paederia foetida L) leaf had better larvicide activity with LC50 value of 588.885 ppm compared to ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, water fraction with LC50 values were 679.516 ppm, 734.852 ppm, 851.344 ppm, respectively.
