Abstract

Fisetin known as Natural Brown is an important bioactive plant flavonoids as a potent therapeutic drug for antihypercipidemic, antioxidant, antiinflammatory, and antidiabetic diseases. Fisetin is classified into BCS (Biopharmacetis Classification System) class II. This study aims to determine whether fisetin can be formulated into niosomes, to determine the effect of nonionic surfactant concentrations of span 60 and cholesterol on particle size and fisetine absorption, to see morphology and to determine whether fisetin niosom is stable during the storage process. This study used five formulas with fisetin content, surfactant span 60 and cholesterol 150: 100: 200; 150: 150: 200; 150: 200: 200; 150: 200: 150 and 150: 200: 100 mg. Fisetin niosomes are prepared by a thin layer hydration method in combination with sonication. Selected formulas are characterized by particle size morphology, application efficiency and stability test. The result showed that fisetin can be made niosome with thin layer hydration method combined with sonication. The characterization of the niosome fisetin resulted in average particle size in F1, F2, F3, F4 and F5 respectively of 148.1; 169.6; 128.6; 187.1 and 120.6 nm. The efficiency of adsorption of the five niosomes formulations produced is %; %; %; % dan %. In the TEM test and the stability test is only performed on F5, the niosome is irregularly shaped and the particle size after storage is 177.8 nm and the zeta potential is -28.8 mV which means fisetin niosome is quite stable during the storage process.
