Abstract

Non Steroid Anti-inflamasi Drugs (NSAID) have been used as antiinflammatory therapy but have side effect like gastrointestinal bleeding so natural anti-inflammatory is needed. Jackfruit (Artocarpus Heterophylla Lamk) has nature substances which have anti-inflammatory characteristic likeflavonoid. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ethanol extract of jackfruit leaves in providing anti-inflammatory effect determine the effective dose of the extract. The subjects in this research were 25 wistar male which divided into 5 groups, namely negative control (CMC Na), positive control (Na-diklofenak) and extract group with dose 375mg/kgBB, 750mg/kgBB, 1500mg/kgBB. Every group consists of five mices. CMC Na, Na-diklofenak and extract supplementation were done per oral, followed with karagenin induction on mice left leglead to edema formation. Measurement of edema volume was done using pletismometer, and observation of edema were made every hour during 5 hours. The result showed that the anti-inflammatory capacity in three doses of jackfruit extract were 25,58%, 41,86%, 37,79% .
