Abstract

Heart failure is a pathophysiologic condition which the heart is unable to pump blood to meet the tissue needs for oxygen and nutrients to perform metabolism. The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of oral cardiovascular drugs in patients with congestive heart failure at the Inpatient Installation of Karanganyar General Hospital as well as its suitability to formularies and the European Society of Cardiolgy Guidelines. Scientific papers are compiled based on research results at Karanganyar General Hospital in 2016. This research uses non-experimental descriptive method. Retrospectively was the observation on the data that already existed before. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, from the patient's medic record that meets the criteria. The results showed that of a total of 9 types of oral cardiovascular drugs, single-drug therapy that is often used is Furosemide and Digoxin, while combination therapy is often used is a combination of Isosorbide Dinitrate (ISDN) + Spironolactone. The percentage of suitability of drug use against Hospital Formulary was 100%, and against the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) was 100%.
