Abstract

Paracetamol is one of the most popular and most commonly used analgesic and antipyretic drugs. Tabletis one of the most widely used pharmaceutical preparations by the community, which contains single-dose drugs. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of combination lactose and avicel pH 101 with consentrasion 100%: 0%, 0%: 100% and 50%: 50% as a diluent to physical quality of paracetamol tablets. Paracetamol tablets are prepared by wet granulation method. Granulation is made in three formulations, formula I containing lactose 100% , formula II containing avicel pH 101 100%, formula III containing combination of lactose 50% and avicel pH 101 50%. The granule obtained was tested physical quality of granule include: flow time, repose angle, and drying shrinkage. The tablet results which obtained was tested the physical quality of tablet include: weight uniformity, hardness, friability and desintagrationtime were tested. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using ANOVA test. The results of this research shows that combination of lactose and avicel pH 101 as diluent affects the physical quality of paracetamol tablets. Paracetamol tablets wich contain avicel pH 101 100%as diluent is the best formula. Keywords: Lactose, Avicel pH 101, Paracetamol, Tablet, Diluent
