Abstract
In the pathological state such as diabetes mellitus, increased oxidative stress will cause decrease in endogenous antioxidant activity in the body so that the body do not able detoxify free radical and prevent cell damage. Source of natural antioxidant as antidiabetic is Moringa oleifera leave and Syzygium aromaticum flower. The purpose of this study was determine antidiabetic activity and antioxidant activity of SOD and GPx enzyme and decrease MDA level of Moringa oleifera leave and Syzygium aromaticum flower ethanol extract combination. This study was an laboratory experimental research using a post-test only group design. The subject of this study were 40 male Wistar rats which conditioned diabetes by streptozotozin-nicotinamid induction. Rats were randomly divided into 8 groups, and each group consisted of 5 rats. Doses of ethanol extract combination of Moringa leaves and Clove flower were used combination I 150:40 mg/kg of rats body weight, combination II 100:80 mg/kg rats body weight and combination III 50:120 mg/kg of rats body weight. The test results were showed that the ethanol extract combination of moringa leaves and clove flower have antidiabetic activity, increase the activity of antioxidant enzymes of SOD, GPx, lower MDA levels, increased regeneration islet of langerhans and increase amount of the islet cells insulin production islet of langerhans.
