Abstract

Broccoli contains flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, steroids, beta carotene, and sulforaphane. Several studies have reported that sulforaphane has a protective effect against cancer cells. This research was conducted with the oral administration of broccoli extract 280 mg /Kg bw, broccoli extract 560 mg /Kg, the aquaeus fraction 205 mg/Kg, ethyl acetate fraction of 30 mg/Kg, n-hexan fractions 37,5 mg/Kg, a negative control Na-CMC 0.5% and a positive control donepezil 0,65 mg/Kg. Having given the test preparation, 10% ethanol induced by the administration within ± 90 minutes, for 14 days and then be tested using the Morris water maze on the next day. Further surgery for making CA1 hippocampus section of the brain. The results showed that the fraction of water at a dose of 205 mg/Kg body weight is the most effective test group with an average difference of time beginning with the test after treatment reaches 9,8 platform, while the other group had a smaller percentage that ethyl acetate fraction 4,8, n-hexan fraction of 4,2, the negative control -16,4, normal group -12.6. Positive group had a time of 15,8. Total cell necrosis of hippocampal CA1 shows the aquaeus fraction 205 mg/Kg body weight is the most effective test group with the average - average number of cells 2,6 while positive control 1,6 while another group has the average - average more dead cell of 15,2 for the negative control, the normal group of 5,8, and ethyl acetate 3,6 fraction fraction of n-hexane 8,2.
