Abstract
Insulin plant (Tithonia diversifolia Gray) This genus Tithonia plant has been used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Naturally, these plants can reduce or lower blood glucose levels to normal limits and prevent the re-emergence of DM for long periods of time without the need for continuous administration. This study aims to determine the activity of insulin leaf ethanol extract and know the most effective dose as antihiperglikemik in male white mice. The study was conducted by using oral glucose-induced glucose tolerance test with a dose of 200 mg/20gBB. The mice were divided into 4 groups namely, positive control, and group of insulin leaf extract with dose 7mg / 20gBB mice, 14 mg / 20gBB mice, and 21 mg / 20gBB mice. Parameters observed were decreased blood glucose levels. Statistical test using ANOVA with 95% confidence level (p <0,05). The results showed that ethanol extract of insulin leaf with 21 mg / 20gBB dose of mice was able to lower blood glucose level more effectively than other test dose. The results showed that ethanol extract of insulin leaf can be used as antihiperglikemik with effective dose 21 mg / 20g BB.
