Abstract

There are many natural ingredients that can be used as traditional medicine, namely red ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale roscoe var rubrum) and kencur rhizome (Kaempferia galanga L.) which has benefits such as anti-inflammatory, and reduce pain. The aim of this research is to know whether or not pharmaceutical preparation of red ginger rhizomes (Zingiber officinale roscoe var rubrum), kempur (Kaempferia galanga L.), clove oil and methyl salicylate using combination of solid paraffin base. Cream of red ginger rhizome and kencur rhizome is made using different concentration of solid paraffin that is Formula 1 (1,5%), Formula 2 (2%), and Formula 3 (2,5%). Tests performed on this cream are physical quality test of cream include organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, viscosity test, adhesion test, spreading test, emulsion type test and accelerated stability test include Freeze Thaw test, centrifugation test. Data analysis using statistic using Anova one way with continued test of SNK with 95% confidence level. The results showed that the preparation of red ginger rhizome and kencur rhizome with variation concentration of 1.5%, 2%, 2.5% can be made antiinflammatory cream that meet the physical quality test and good stability.
