Abstract

The leaves mulberry (Morus australis Poir.) is widely used as a food ingredient community everyday and can be used as a anti-diabetic and anti-hyperlipidemia. This research aims to understand the effect of ethanol fractions (n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and warter) of mulberry leaves on blood lipid profile and anti atherosclerosis in the aorta wall thickness descreasing on white male rats induced high fat diet. This research study using 40 male wistar rats. One group given the normal diet and seven groups were given rats high fat diet and PTU for a month. Treatment given for 14 days. Group I as normal control given Confeed PAR-S, diet group II as negative control given CMC Na 0.5%, group III as positive control given simvastatin 0,9 mg/kg bw, group IV as positive control given gemfibrosil 0,9 mg/Kg BW, group V given ethanol extract of mulberry leaf with a dose 500 mg /kg bw, group VI given 60 mg/kg bw dose of n-hexane fraction, group VII given ethyl acetate fraction dose 40 mg/kg bw, and group VIII given fraction of water dose 400 mg/kg bw. All rats measures blood lipid profile since day 0th, 28th, 35th, and 42th. Then continued histopathology aorta on 42th. The research of this researched showen that dose of 40 mg/kg bw ethyl acetate fraction can be used as anti-hyperlipidemia and anti aterosklerosis in aorta wall thickness decreased on male white rats induced high-fat diet and PTU.
