Abstract
Red betel leaf (Piper Crocatum Ruiz and Pav) is a plant that can be used traditional medicine society in traditional medicine. Red betel leaf (Piper crocatum Ruiz and Pav) is efficacious for treating diabetes, cancer, inflammation, hypertension (high blood pressure), hepatitis (liver inflammation), nosebleeds, antiseptics (oral drugs) and hemorrhoids (piles). The purpose of this study was to determine the total phenolic content of the ethanolic extract of red betel leaf at various concentrations of ethanol. This research was conducted by maseration method for 5 days. Based on Complex-forming reactions with gallic acid observed using UV-VIS spectrophotometry. The maximum operating time and wavelength data is obtained from the reaction of standard gallic acid solution. Determination of total phenolic content was calculated using linear regression, with the standard of gallic acid as a standard curve. From the results obtained in this study was the average total phenolic extracts penyari ethanolic 96% ethanol concentration was 20,23%, 70% ethanol concentration was 17,20% and 30% ethanol concentration was 12,67%. Thus, the highest phenolic content was found in the extract with ethanol ethanol at 96% concentration.
