Abstract

Platelets are blood cells that play an important role in the process of hemostasis or blood clotting process. Blood platelet counting, especially platelet count, is the most commonly requested in the clinic. Cases of pseudotrombocytopenia are found in about 1 in 1000 individuals who have no clinical significance. In the previous study about 15,3% of outpatients with thrombocytopenia alone and in other studies stated that 0,1% of pseudotrombocytopenia patients were caused by anticoagulans EDTA (Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid). The purpose of this study was to determine the difference between platelet counts on conventional EDTA and EDTA vacumtube. Method in this research is random sampling technique at student D3 Health Analyst at Setia Budi University of Surakarta. In this study the calculation using the normality test and t – test and use the Shapiro - Wilk test due to the number of samples less than 50 samples. Test t – test was used to determine the significant differences in yield on platelet counts using blood samples with conventional EDTA and blodd samples using EDTA vacumtube. The results of the axamination of the count of platelet count in blood using conventional EDTA anticoagulant and EDTA vacumtube with Hematology Analyzer method, in 30 samples of D3 Medical Analyst students at the Setia Budi University of Surakarta obtained significant differences in the number of platelet using conventional EDTA and EDTA vacumtube.
