Abstract

Basil and lime leaves was one of the herbal plant essential oil and can be used as a drug. Basil leaves can cure colds, diarrhea, constipation, overcome heartburn. Lime leaves has been used to relieve sore throat, fever, skin care. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of a combination of essential oils of basil leaves and lime leaves against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922. The method used to produce the essential oils of basil leaves and lime was a method of steam and water, then testing antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 using diffusion dan dilution methods. Methods of diffusion of essential oils of basil leaves and lime leaves using a combination (1: 1, 1: 2, 1: 3, 2: 1, 3: 1) and the essential oil dilution method basil leaves and lime leaves using a concentration of 100%, 50%, 20%; 12.5; 6.25%; 3.125%; 1.56%; 0.78%; 0.39%; 0.19%; The results of this study indicated that diameter bottleneck area of concentrations (1:3) have the most optimal antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 is 23.66 mm and Minimum Bactericide Concentration (MBC) was 12.5%.
