Abstract
Cetirizine HCl is an antihistamine drug that works as a way to block potassium channels. Formulation of cetirizine HCl in Fast Disintegrating Tablet using inclusion complex with β-cyclodextrin is an appropriate alternative to enhance the palatability and disintegrate rapidly in the mouth. This research aimed to masking bitter taste of cetirizine HCl, improve physical properties of Fast Disintegrating Tablet using inclusion complex with β-cyclodextrin, get optimum formula from combination of superdisintagrant crospovidon, Primojel® and lubricant Mg stearate. Fast Disintegrating Tablet cetirizine HCl made inclusion complex with β- cyclodextrin. Materials optimized are crospovidone, Primojel® and Mg stearat. Cetirizine HCl made inclusion complex with β-cyclodextrin using a molar ratio1:2 by kneading method. Tableting process using direct compress method. The results was optimized by Factorial design method 23 and was analyzed using Design Expert software to get optimum formula. Complex inclusion cetirizine HCl with β-cyclodextrin can masking bitter taste of cetirizine HCl. The combination of superdisintagrant crospovidon, Primojel® and lubricant Mg stearat can improve physical properties of Fast Disintegrating Tablet cetirizine HCl. Based on superimposed contour plot, the optimum area was in range of crospovidone 10,0 mg (10%); Primojel® 9,47 mg (9,47%) and Mg stearat 0,20 mg (0,2%).
