Abstract

Inflammation is a body's response to injury. One sign of inflammation is edema. This research aims to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of iga leaf ethanol extract and to know the dose of iga leaf ethanol extract which has the most optimal anti-inflammatory activity by induction method of carrageenan and UV radiation. The leaves were extracted with maceration method with 96% ethanol. Tests were performed on 25 rats divided into 5 groups: negative control (CMC Na), positive control (Diclofenac Sodium 4,5 mg / kg BW), ethanol extract of inggu leaf with dose 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg / kg BW. In the induction method of carrageenan measurement of antiinflammatory activity was done by measuring the volume of edema on rat foot induced with lambda carrageenan 0.8%. In the UV radiation method measurement of anti-inflammatory activity based on erythema score due to induction of UVB radiation. The data obtained by ANOVA and LSD analysis to know the difference between treatment groups. The results showed that ethanol extract of leaves of doses 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg / kg BW had anti-inflammatory activity by induction method of carrageenan while dose 50 mg and 100 mg / kg BW had antiinflammatory activity with UV radiation method. Leaf ethanol extract inggu dose of 100 mg / kg BW has the most optimal anti-inflammatory activity and is proportional to positive control in both methods. The content is suspected to have anti-inflammatory effects of flavonoids and steroids. Keywords: Antiinflammatory, inggu leaf extract, induction of carrageenan, UV radiation
