Abstract

Hypertensi and diabetes mellitus is one example of metabolic disorders and more suffered by geriatric patients. On geriatri patients frequent drug interaction occur. This is because the use of hypertensive drugs and antidiabetic long enough and the function of organs that have decreased. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not the incidence of drug interactions and to know what percentage of incidence and types of antihypertensive drug interactions in geriatric patients with diabetes mellitus at Inpatient Installation of Dr.Soeradji Tirtonegoro Hospital in 2017. This research is a research with the design of desktiptif. Data is retrospectively retrieved. Data collection is done by taking all data that meet the criteria of research that exist in the medical record of inpatients who suffer from hypertension with diabetes mellitus in Dr.Soeradji Tirtonegoro Hospital in 2017. The data are analyzed descriptively based on the interaction mechanism and significant level. The results showed that there were 36.36% (8 patients) of 22 hypertensive patients with diabetes mellitus who could potentially experience drug interactions. The most widely used antihypertensive drugs in hypertensive patients with diabetes mellitus are CCB (Calcium Canal Blocker) and ARB (Angiotensin Receptor Blocker) as much as 22,72% (5 patients). The most frequent drug interaction occurrence was through pharmacodinamic drug interaction mechanism that was 33.33% (4 cases). Based on the severity, at moderate level of 46,15% (6 cases) and at minor level of 53,85% (7 cases).
