Abstract
Hypertension is blood pressure increases with an increase in systolic pressure exceeds 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure exceeded 90 mmHg. As a substitute for synthetic drugs, traditional medicine can be used as a treatment for hypertension, one of them tali’s bamboo shoot. The purpose of this research was to study the prevention of increased blood pressure in hypertensive rats with ethanol extract of tali’s bamboo shoots. This study uses as many as 25 male rats Sprague-Dawley were divided into 5 groups: negative control group (CMC Na 1%), positive control (Hidroklortiazid), a group of ethanol extract tali’s bamboo shoots dose of 40 mg/kg, a dose of 80 mg/kg, and a dose of 160 mg/kg. The induction method used was prednisone and NaCl to increased rat blood pressure. The results of this study showed that ethanol extract of tali’s bamboo shoot had antihypertensive activity against Sprague-Dawley white rats induced prednisone and NaCl. The ethanol extract of tali’s bamboo shoot with a dose of 40 mg/kg most effective in decreasing blood pressure in male Sprague-Dawley rats compared with other extract dose.
