Abstract

COPD is one of the chronic disease which is able to decrease the quality of life and be responsible for very high expense in health care systems. This study aims to determine the direct medical cost and which component is dominant in COPD outpatients, utility value, and the factor which affects the utility value and direct medical cost for COPD patient. This was an observational research with cross sectional design. Data collected with concurrent and retrospektif. Medical record, list of financial and pharmacy cost were used to find out the direct medical cost and the EQ-5D-5L questionaire was used to find out the utility value. Subjects were 80 patients with COPD was visited of Karanganyar Hospital. Data processing included patients demographic data, smoking status, duration of suffering COPD, therapy pattern, CAT score, comorbid, direct medical cost and utility value which was analyzed with non-parametric test. The results showed that the direct medical cost of the outpatients with COPD at Karanganyar Hospital was Rp 206.693, with the pharmaceutical cost as the highest component cost. Utility value was 0,705. The factor which affected the utility value was CAT score (p=0,005) and that affected the direct medical cost was the therapy pattern (0,000).
