Abstract
Hypertension is a condition characterized by an increase in systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure ≥ 140/90 mmHg. Geriatrics are people over 65 years old. Geriatric hypertension is caused by increased systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure as age increases. The objective of this study was to determine patient characteristics, treatment profiles, DRPs, and relationship between the length of stay in hospital with DRPs. This type of research was a non-experimental study with retrospective data collection using purposive sampling method, with a cross-sectional study design. The data taken in the form of medical record records of Geriatric patients diagnosed with Hypertension and data analysis was carried out using a descriptive design. Drug Related Problems (DRPs) cases of geriatric hypertensive patients which fulfilled the inclusion criteria were 234 patients which 76 patients had the potential to experience DRPs. The DRPs categories which observed from this research were 17 cases (12,5%) of drug Interaction, 62 cases (45,6%) of too high dosages, 33 cases (24,2%) of too low dosages, 8 cases (5,9%) of indication without therapy, and 16 cases (11,8%) of therapy without indication. There were relationship between the number of DRPs, length of stay with patients improving the presence of DRPs and without DRPs towards achieving the target of decreasing the patient's blood pressure values in the inpatient Installation of RSUD Ir.
