Abstract

Turmeric rhizome (curcuma domestica Val.) and ginger (zingiber officinale Rosc.) is a traditional plant that is efficacious as anti-inflammatory. The aimed of this research is to know the subcronic toxicity of the combination ethanol extract turmeric rhizome and ginger leaves to changes in SGPT, SGOT and histopathology of hepatic organ in white rat. The extraction method used was sochleted with 70% ethanol solvent. This study used male and female wistarrats, tested 50 rats divided into 5 groups: negative control (Tween 2%), treatment groups were give combination of tumeric and ginger (50:50), dose I (400 mg / kgBB), dose II (700 mg / kgBB), dose III ( 1000 mg / kgBB) for 28 days and satellite group (1000 mg / kgBB) plus 14 days. The SGPT and SGOT examination results were analyzed using One Way Anova, the last day the rats were sacrificed for histopathology of the hepatic organ. The results showed that give ethanol extract of turmeric and ginger rhizome orally did not give toxic effect on male and female white rats, hepatic organ seen from SGPT and SGOT and histopathologycal parameters were observed. .
