Abstract

Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus is S. aureus bacterium experiencing resistance towards antibiotic beta laktam group. It is caused by the change of PBP2 into PBP2a consequences from insertion of mecA gene on strain S. aureus. MRSA is a bacterium caused many health problems at a lot of hospital in the world. Much infection that is caused by MRSA is infection on skin, bone, lungs, and heart, besides that MRSA is the most caused of nosokomial infection. The chemistry content of wuluh star fruit leaf is flavonoid, saponin, and tannin. This research was done to know the activity of antibateria wuluh star fruit leaf ethanol extract towards Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Wuluh star fruit leaf extract used maserasi method with ethanol 70%. Antibacterial activity experiment of wuluh star fruit leaf extract towards Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus used diffusion method and dilution. Concentrate of ethanol extract which was used in diffusion method is 40% and 60%, and concentrate of ethanol extract which was used for dilution was 60%; 30%; 15%; 7,5%; 3,75%; 1,875%; 0,9375%; 0,46875%. The result of this study showed that wuluh star fruit leaf ethanol extract (Averrhoa bilimbi [L.]) with 60% concentrate had antibacterial activity towards Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus with zone of inhibition diameters amount of 11 mm, and Minimum Kill Concentrate with the amount of 15%.
