Abstract
Peptic ulcer is one of peptic ulcer signed with the damaged mucosa layer, even up to muscularis mucosa. This research aimed to find out activity and the most effective preparation as antiulcer coming from papaya leaves extract and fractions as antiulcus. Papaya leaves powder macerated for 5 days, the result obtained was fractionated with consistent solvent. Thirty five rats was divided into 7 groups induced with absolute ethanol, except normal group, group 1 (normal), group 2 (CMC 1%), group 3 (omeprazole 0.36 mg/200 g), group 4 (papaya leaves extract 20 mg/200 g), group 5 (n-hexane fraction 4.33 mg/200), group 6 (ethyl acetate fraction 10.44 mg/200g), group 7 (water fraction 5.22 mg/200g) conducted for 7 days. In the last day, the rat’s stomach was taken and then ulcus index was determined using histopathology test. Papaya leaves ethanol extract and ethyl acetate fraction had antiulcer effect but had not been comparable to the positive control (omeprazole), characterized with the presence of ulcer and spot.
