Abstract
Guava leaves and cashew leaves can use as traditional medicine for dysentery. In the previous research, ethanol extract of guava leaf and cashew leaf have antibacterial activity against Shigella dysenteriae ATCC 9361. This study aims to know the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract combination of guava leaves and cashew leaves against Shigella dysenteriae ATCC 9361. Antibacterial activity test of ethanol extract guava leaves and cashew leaves on Shigella dysenteriae ATCC 9361 using dilution and diffusion method. The extract concentration used for the dilution method was 50%; 25%; 12.5%; 6.25%; 3.12%; 1.56%; 0.78%; 0.39%; 0.19%; 0.09%. The concentration of the combination extract used for the diffusion test was 12.5%. Comparison of ethanol extract combination used was 1: 1.1: 3, and 3: 1. Minimum Bactericid Concentration (MBC) ethanol extract of guava leaves and ethanol extract of cashew leaf was 12.5%. The combination of ethanol extract guava leaves and cashew leaves most active to inhibiting the growth of Shigella dysenteriae ATCC 9361 is a combination of extracts with a ratio of 1:3.
