Abstract

Kersen leaves (Muntingia calabura L.) is used as an antifungal drug with flavonoids, saponins and tannins. The aim of this research is to know the antifungal activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water fraction of cayenne ethanolic extract on Candida albicans which is higher than ethanol extract, knowing from the three most active fractions to Candida albicans antifungal activity, knowing KHM and KBM from the most active fraction This research uses two diffusion and dilution methods. The concentration used in the diffusion method was 50%, 25% and 12,5% aimed to determine the most active fraction. The most active fraction is continued dilution test to determine the MIC and MBC with concentration 50%, 25%, 12,5%, 6,25%, 3,12%, 1,56%, 0,78%, 0,39%, 0,2%, 0,1%. Statistical analysis using twoway ANOVA to determine whether there is a significant difference between the test preparation. The results shows that all the fractions and extracts has antifungal activity. Ethyl acetate fraction is most active fraction with 21,43 mm concentration of 50%. Keywords : Kersen leaves, fraction of n-hexane, ethyl acetate fraction, fraction of water, Candida albicans, Muntingia calabura L.
