Abstract
Tumeric rhizome (Curcuma domestica Val.) and ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) were a plant many used as a traditional medicine, one of them as anti-inflammatory. This research aimed to determine the effects of subchronic toxicity toward toxic symptoms and the levels of Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine also histopathology image of kidney in rats. The combination extract of tumeric and ginger rhizome was obtained from soclethlet product using 70% ethanol solvent. This research used 25 male rats and 25 female rats, divided into 5 groups. The first group of negative control was given tween 80 2% solution, 3 treatment groups were given combination of tumeric and ginger extract at 400 mg / KgBW, 700 mg / KgBW, 1000 mg / KgBW, and the satellite group was given 1000 mg / KgBW. The research lasted for 28 days and added 14 days in the satellite group. The examination of BUN and creatinine levels was performed at the beginning of treatment and the end of treatment The end of observation animals was sacrificed for the histopathology test. The results of this research was a combination of extracts of tumeric and ginger dose of 400 mg / KgBB, 700 mg / KgBB, 1000 mg / KgBB or satellite group did not give toxic effect on renal organ male and female rats seen from examination of BUN, creatinin and also kidney histopathology image.
