Abstract

Temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb) and White Tumeric (Curcuma zedoaria Berg) compund curcuminoid, essential oils, and other that have an effect on lowering levels of SGOT and SGPT. This study uses a combination of rhizome temulawak and white tumeric made into instant. This study aimed to determine the effect of lowering of SGOT and SGPT levels and to find an effective dose of instant combination of temulawak and white tumeric in paracetamol-induced rats. Instant preparation is a preparation in the form of powder from the temulawak and white tumeric stew with added sugar. This study used 30 male rats, each divided into 6 groups are; normal control, negative control was given sucrose 2700 mg/kgbb, positive control was given curcumin tablet with dose 54 mg/kgbb, group of instant treatment dose 540, 270, and 135 mg/kgbb for 12 days. On days 13th and 14th all groups except normal control were given toxic doses of paracetamol 900 mg/kgbb. On the 15th day all rats blood measured of SGOT and SGPT levels. The results showed that the administration of instant combination of temulawak and white tumeric showed activity in lowering of SGOT and SGPT levels in paracetamol-induced rats dose 900 mg/kgbb showed by significant difference with paracetamol toxic dose with effective dose to lowering of SGOT and SGPT levels is 270 mg/kgbb.
