Abstract

Ciplukan (Physalis angulata L.) is one of the plants that has many pharmacologycal activities and has been used by people as arthritis and cancer medicine. The study aimed to determine the effect of Subchronic toxicity towards toxic symptoms, biochemical parameters include Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and creatinin level, also kidney histopathology in rats. The herbs of ciplukan was maserated with 96% of ethanol. A total of 50 Wistar rats males and females respectively were divided randomly into 5 groups and administered by CMC 1%, 250, 500, and 1000 mg/kgbw herbs of ciplukan once daily for 90 days, and satellite administered by 1000 mg/kgbw for 90 days and additional 28 days to observe the reversible effect. The biochemical parameters be measured every 30 days and kidney histopathology was observed when there were dead rat and in the end of research. The result showed there was effect of sensitive to sound and defecation. The herbs of ciplukan did affect of BUN levels at the dose of 250, 500, and 1000 mg/kgbw in male, creatinine levels in male and female rats, and also at the dose of 500 and 1000 mg/kgbw did affect of BUN in female rats and kidney histopathology.
