Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition that occurs because the body can’t produce insulin normally or insulin can’t work effectively. Treatment of DM type 2 in RSUD Karanganyar use metformin and glibenklamide. The purpose of this study is to analyze the treatment cost-effectiveness of hospitalize patients with DM type 2 using Metformin and glibenclamide. The study was an observational cross-sectional method according to the hospital's perspective using secondary data in January-December 2016 period regarding the treatment of 68 BPJS class-III DM type 2 patients. The data includes demographic data, length of stay and total costs. A total of 36 patients class III BPJS use Metformin and 32 patients class III BPJS use glibenclamide. Patients age ranged from 36-65 years. Statistical used independent t-test. The results showed that metformin therapy was more cost-effective whit the parcentage of therapy effectiveness based on 94,45% GDS and 83,33 % LOS while glibenclamide with 65,63% GDS and 65,63 % LOS, average total cost of metformin therapy Rp 1.464.143,56 and glibenclamide Rp. 1.615.247,88. ACER metformin values based on GDS Rp.15.575 and LOS Rp. 24.473 while glibenclamide with GDS values of Rp. 24.473 and LOS Rp. 24.473 So metformin more cost-effective than glibenclamide.
