Abstract

The direct economic impacts of stroke cases include the amount of medical expenses that the patient needs. This study aims to determine the comparison of the effectiveness of the use of citicoline neuroprotectants, piracetam, citicoline and piracetam combinations in and the average cost of ischemic stroke patients in each neuroprotectant used. This study used a descriptive approach with hospital perspective with cross sectional design, method of data collection was retrospectively with 60 ischemic stroke patients subjects to obtain effectiveness and cost therapy of citicoline and piracetam use in hospitality of RSUD Ungaran, Central Java period October 2016-January 2018 measured based on increased GCS score (Glasgow Coma Scale) and calculated cost of direct medical costs. The results of the average total cost treatment of ischemic stroke patients with neuroprotectan in the piracetam was Rp 3.556.706,00, the combination of citicoline and piracetam was 3.541.106,00, and the citicoline was Rp 3.416.406,00. The effectiveness of therapy with neuroprotectan citicoline increased the mean GCS score was 2,17, the average piracetam was 1,82, while the neuroprotectan combination group averaged 1,62. P value of 0,283 (> 0.05), means that ischemic stroke patients receiving citicoline therapy, piracetam, and combinations did not show any improvement in neurological function.
