Abstract

Pletekan leaf was one of the plants used as a traditional medicine has antiinflammatory, antidiabetic, antimicrobial and antioxidant effects. The purpose of this research is to find out the effects of subchronic toxicity about of Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), creatinine and histopathologic of the rats’s renal organ. The extract of pletekan leaf was obtained from maceration using 70% ethanol solvent. This research used 25 male rats and 25 female rats, divided into 5 groups. One group of negative control was given 0.5% CMC solution, 3 treatment groups were given the extract of pletekan leaf at doses of 125 mg / KgBB, 625 mg / KgBB, 1000 mg / KgBB, and the satellite group was given 1000 mg / KgBB. The research was observated for 28 days and additional 14 days in the satellite group. The examination of BUN and creatinine levels was performed at the beginning of treatment and the end of treatment. At the end of observation the test animals were sacrificed for the histopathological test. The result of this research showed that the extract of pletekan leaf by dose 125 mg/kgBB, 625 mg/kgBB, 1000 mg/kgBB and satelite group did not showed of toxicity effects from Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), creatinine and histopathologic of the rats’s renal organ.
