Abstract
Schizophrenia is a chronic disease taking long treatment time and high cost. The objective research was to find a description on antipsychotics use, average treatment cost of schizophrenia patients, and the outcome of antipsychotic therapy in schizophrenia patients treated in inpatients units. This study was a descriptive approach with cross-sectional design by taking the sample retrospectively to find out the description of antipsychotic use in inpatients RSJD Surakarta. The subjects in this study were inpatient schizophrenic patients with diagnoses of schizophrenia receiving antipsychotics. Costs calculated include, the cost of antipsychotic drugs, treatment rooms, nutritional intake, support, medical action, medication and alkes. The measured results include PANSS, change in weight and extrapyramidal incidence frequency. The results can be concluded in schizophrenic patients treated as many as 60 patients meet the inclusion criteria. The average total cost of schizophrenia therapy is Rp.2.558.452 for one episode of hospitalization. The highest average cost was the typical atypical-combination antipsychotic group (Rp.5.170.452,29), the atypical antipsychotic group (Rp.4.145.912), the typical antipsychotic group (Rp.2.565.440). outcome of antipsychotic therapy use of atypical group of PANSS score 42,34, weight change 0,10 kg and EPS incidence 23,3%, typical group of PANSS score 40,66, body weight 0,11 kg and EPS incidence 75% , whereas the combination of atypical-typical PANSS score 54.00, body weight 0.071 kg with EPS incidence 1.7%.
