Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism in which insulin is reduced, a decrease in insulin activity, or a combination of both factors. It is characterized by hyperglycemia. This study aims to determine the cost effectiveness of antidiabetic glimepiride and metformin in patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Karanganyar District Hospital in 2016. This research is non-experimental design with a retrospective descriptive study. Sampling was done by purposive sampling technique based on certain considerations and certain criteria. Based on data from hospital medical records Karanganyar the period January-December 2016 the number of cases of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in patients BPJS is 217 patients. Samples which met the inclusion criteria were 74 patientstaking therapy antidiabetic without disease complications and have a complete medical record. The results showed that the group is more antidiabetic metformin cost effective with ACER value of Rp. 24.293.70 compared with oral antidiabetic drug glimepiride group with ACER value of Rp. 25.836,19 compared in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus hospitalizations in Karanganyar District Hospital in 2106.
