Abstract
Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr. leaf containt of chemical compounds, including papaverine alkaloid, protein, fat, vitamin, mineral, saponin, flavonoid, and tanin. Flavonoid from Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr. leaves provide antioxidant activity. This research aim to know the the composition part of emulgator Tween 80 and Span 80 in Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr. leaf extract cream which gives the best physical properties and best antioxidant activity based on HLB value. Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr. leaf extract was done by maceration using 80% ethanol solvent. This research used three antioxidant cream formulas Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr. leaf extract with mixed emulgator Tween 80 and Span 80 3% concentration with variation of HLB value 13, 14, 15, for formulation 1, 2, 3. Formulation 4 as a negative control and formulation 5 as a positive control. Determination of antioxidant activity of Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr. leaf extract used DPPH method as measured by UV-VIS spectrophotometer at 516 nm wavelength. The results of the Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr. leaf extract cream shows that the cream of formula 2 have the best physical quality value of HLB 14. The cream of formula 1, 2 and 3 have a strong antioxidant activity with no significant different IC50 value ie 71.47; 67.15 and 69.29 ppm. Key word: Katuk leaf extract, Cream, Emulgator, Antioxidant activity
