Abstract
Plants kersen is one of a field that is possessing antioxidant activity because it contains flavonoid .Research aims to understand antioxidant activity preparation gel extract leaves kersen (Muntingia calabura L.) . Kersen leaf extract wasobtained by maceration method for 5 day with ethanol 96%, then thickened with a rotary evaporator. Gel is made in 5 formulas in which formulas 1,2 and 3 each contain 10%, 15% and 20% kersen leaf extract. Formula 4 is negative control ( gel without active substance) and formula 5 is a positive control ( routinr gel ). Gel antioxidant activity was tested by the DPPH method, and observed physical properties that include homogeneity, spreadability, adhesion, viscosity, stability, and pH. The results showed that the leaf extractof kersen value of antioxidant activity of kersen leaf is 69,7173 ppm. The results of the antioxidant activity test extract in the gel showed the value of antioxidant activity of the fformula 1, 2 and 3 are respectively 2638,6364 ppm; 1425,0725 ppm and 1417,2 ppm. Those results showed there were differences in antioxidant activity of leaf kersen extract before and after being made gel preparation and after 21 days storage.
