Abstract

Pain is defined as sensory and emotional experience associated with tissue damage. The aims of this research were to determine the analgesic activity of (Morinda citrifolia L.) leaf extract syrup and to determine the effective dose of noni leaf extract syrup that produces the highest analgesic activity. Noni leaf powder was extracted by maseration method used 96% ethanol solvent and got formulated into syrup with three concentrations of extract which were 5.42 grams, 10.84 grams and 16.26 grams. This test of analgesic activity with tail flick method used 25 male white mice were divided into 5 groups: negative control aquadest 0.4 ml, positive control by acetosal 1.3 mg / 20g BB, syrup I 1,4 mg / 20g BB, syrup II 2,8 mg / 20g BB, and syrup III 4,2 mg / 20g BB. The obtained result is processed by statistical analysis of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with one way method, so that the result of significance from the data. The results showed that of the treatment groups were significantly different compared to negative control, but were not different significantly compared to positive control. This study showed that the syrup of Noni leaf extract has analgesic activity and syrup III formula with the dose of 4.2 mg / 20g BB mice has the highest analgesic activity.
